EMCF invests in nonprofits that lift the life prospects of vulnerable youth who are the hardest to reach, with the greatest obstacles to overcome on their way to productive adulthood.
We make these investments by engaging in three principal initiatives, through EMCF’s core Youth Development Fund, Blue Meridian Partners, and PropelNext.
The grantees in our Youth Development Fund have compelling evidence they help youth get an education, hold a job, and stay out of trouble. In 2017, Youth Development Fund grantees served nearly 244,000 young people, ages 9-24, across the U.S.
As a General Partner of Blue Meridian Partners, a partnership of results-oriented philanthropists seeking to transform the life trajectories of children and youth living in poverty across America, EMCF has collaborated in initial investments in high-performing national organizations and two regional strategies.
In 2018, EMCF announced that in keeping with the Foundation’s limited-life strategy, its staff and operations would transition to Blue Meridian Partners, Inc. While this independent organization embarks on a new phase of growth, it has assumed responsibility for helping EMCF fulfill its commitments and complete its work with grantees in the Youth Development Fund over the next three to four years as the Foundation winds down its activities.
EMCF is also supporting 12 Northern California organizations in the third cohort of PropelNext, in partnership with four California-based foundations. To learn more about PropelNext's grantees and the initiative, please visit PropelNext.org.
