HealthySteps is a program of ZERO TO THREE that augments pediatric practices and strengthens families by providing and connecting parents to resources that nurture social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development in children.
More than 90 percent of low-income families visit pediatricians. Families enrolled in HealthySteps are connected with a child and family development professional who is part of the primary care team and provides services that many practices struggle to offer. These include family-centered parenting and early learning guidance from birth, timely recommended screenings, and effective referrals and care coordination.
Children and parents reap the benefits, with twice as many well-child visits attended, nine times more age-appropriate guidance, and 40 percent more referrals for developmental, behavioral, social, and emotional needs. HealthySteps children are in turn healthier, safer, and readier for kindergarten and success in life.
In 2015, ZERO TO THREE assumed leadership of HealthySteps to enable more families nationwide to access the program. Blue Meridian Partners made a planning and development investment of $7.0 million over two years to help ZERO TO THREE develop new expansion strategies and a comprehensive plan to scale HealthySteps.
